Story

In 2003 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer which was a devastating blow.  With a two year old child and a massive support of family and friends I Knew I had to put up a fight.  Without hesitation I had a mastectomy which was followed up with chemotherapy.  At this point I was offered and entered into cancer drug trials. The main drug was Herceptin but this meant  a further year of intravenous chemo and regular heart scans.  In 2005 the IV stopped but the monitoring was to continue for a further 9 years. I then had reconstructive surgery and these days I attend the Breast Cancer seminars as a volunteer to model to discuss with patients who are deciding what reconstructive surgery they can have.

In 2013 my family had further upset when my dad was diagnosed with this horrible disease. He sadly passed away in November 16.

Why Christies?? Well these charities are so important and provide so much support to patients and their families and so many households these days have or know someone who is affected by cancer.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You will know I am not the most active person in the world as I sit on my butt at work all day and don't do the gym. I have therefore teamed up with 15 of my work mates and colleagues at WTJ Insurance Brokers to do this 5 k obstacle course which will be fun but raise money for the cause at the same time.  Christies is a charity WTJ do a lot of fund raising for as our MD had family members who had palliative care there in the past and did an amazing job during this extremely difficult time.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
